What is Thermoforming?
Thermoforming is a manufacturing process using thermoplastic sheets of plastic that is heated between heaters until its forming temperature. The material is then stretched over or onto a temperature-controlled, mold. Specialized equipment hold the plastic against the mold surface while vacuuming and air pressure pull and secure the warm plastic into the mold until cooled. The formed part is then trimmed from the sheet, inspected for quality purposes before packaging and shipping to the customer for final distribution to wholesales and retail markets.
Advantages of Thermoforming 1. Appealing clear packaging adds retail value to your product
2. Low cost and faster time to production
3. Great for large production runs
4. Short lead time renders faster time to market
5. Requires less space; stackable
6. Ideal for new products due to small batch production
7. Speedy design, tooling and build cycles using Rapid Prototyping
